Foundation Run in the Sun/ KLM Curacao Marathon will support and raise money for Ride For the Roses Curacao/Prinses Wilhelmina Foundation. Participants can donate upon registration. This money is highly needed to support the cancer patients and keep supporting cancer patients in Curacao. The Prinses Wilhelmina Foundation receives the funds raised by the Ride for the Roses Foundation. The PWF describes on their website how the foundation uses this money and what they have already accomplished. 

Vice president of RFTRC, Curd Evertsz, intends to walk 1000 kilometers by January of 2019. In turn, this will hopefully generate new standing orders at local banks in favor of RFTRC. This ‘Standing Order 1000’ plan will ensure a continuous flow of income for RFTRC and symbolizes the importance of walking regularly and the continuous fight against cancer. Foundation Run in the Sun/ KLM Curacao Marathon will also support the 1000 Standing order plan and donates one KLM Royal dutch Airlines return ticket (Curacao-Amsterdam-Curacao). This KLM ticket will be raffled among all companies, institutions and people who have signed a standing order.

Team up for charity! Raise awareness and get fit.
Participants can also run for his or her charity."Team up for charity! Raise awareness and get fit". Team up, with a minimum of 10 participants, for your own Charity.  From each of your "Charity" participants entree fee, we donate 5 NAFL to your cause. So Team up for Charity! The logo and name of your Charity will be mentioned in a newsletter and will be named on our website. Request your Team registration form by sending an email to 

Here are our some fundraising ideas:

  • 5 KM run or walk A short distance which most people can achieve. A reasonable target to be set here is fl 150,-. Fundraising tip number 1 is to ask your 30 closest friends in person to sponsor you fl 5,- fl 1,- per km and explain to them how the money will help support your chosen charity.
  • 10 KM run or walk A distance that again can be achieved by most people. A reasonable target to be set here is fl 300,-. Fundraising Tip number 2 is to Use social media such as Facebook to contact all of your friends and ask them to sponsor you. The average person has 120 friends on Facebook so ask for fl 5,- and all you need is 50% of your friends to sponsor you.
  • Half Marathons. You are now stepping into a serious distance and you need to consider this very carefully. You need to train hard and a reasonable target to be set here is fl 500,00 - fl 1000,- Fundraising Tip number 3 is to check with your boss to see if you receive match-giving. If so you have just halved your fundraising target.
  • Marathons. Completing a marathon is one of the most rewarding things you can do in your life and the self satisfaction will also come with a high fundraising target of fl 1500+ but don't be deterred by this as this is very much part of the achievement. Fundraising tip number 4 is to arrange a fundraising event and ask your friends and family to help.
